Life - SprinterDellaCasa Junior

So I can now reveal all the non-cycling stuff that I was thinking of from the latter part of 2010 until now.

Our son was born this morning, a little peanut at 5 pounds and 8 ounces.

The Missus insists I be at the race tomorrow. SDC Jr obliged with a quick and trouble-free birth, after a midnight wake up call.

I'll post more about it as I've been biting my proverbial tongue for a while, but for now I want to spend some time with Junior.

We didn't want to put anything on the intrawebs until the baby was born. So, about an hour after he was born, it was up :)

It's been a wild and crazy trip. Last week we spent two days in the hospital on a false alarm. And trying to hold the races without knowing when he'd arrive... it's been kind of stressful.

Aki,

It's been awhile since I visited your site. Congratulations to you and your wife on your new baby. I'm so happy for you.

Thanks Brad. It's been a bit crazy so far but it's worth every second. The cycling I'm afraid is suffering a bit but I kind of expected that, and holding Koichi is well worth it. I'm just hoping we don't spoil him too badly.

Forgive yourself for your cycling taking a back seat. There is simply no way to keep it on the same priority as it was before Koichi came into your life. Maybe you're different, but you'll find, when faced with the opportunity to catch up on much-needed sleep or riding, sleep is a much better choice.

I'm finding that sleep is priority, but when it's time to take care of him (in lieu of sleep) it's easy to get up. Slow, okay, but easy. Never a question of "let me just put it off for a bit". Quite amazing, especially since it's day in, day out. I can psych myself up for one early morning, or even a few (like for Bethel), but every day... it's pretty incredible.
